A Hero's Journey Away From Craving

“My Cravings For Sugar and Carbs Became Overpowering” - Our Hero

Imagine a life...

Imagine a life where every meal feels like a battle, every step heavier than the last. 

This is where our hero begins—unhealthy, overweight, and caught in the grip of metabolic dysfunction. The environment, laden with ultra-processed foods and sedentary habits, seems insurmountable.  


And the Cravings!

They were so powerful and unpredictable. 

She found herself giving in to them more and more, and she liked the way she looked and felt less and less. 

With the realization, a moment when our hero looks in the mirror and understands that the way she’s living is not sustainable. Something’s got to change!

The foods she eats, the lethargy she feels, the weight she carries—it all screams that something is off.  It screams that the extra fat must come off.

But thus far, everything our hero has tried hasn’t worked.  The struggle is real.  Yet, within this struggle lies the call to adventure: the quest for health and freedom.  The quest to conquer her cravings and lose her belly fat once and for all!

Our hero is not alone.

Countless individuals seek the secret to weight loss, especially belly fat. The flood of information—from social media gurus to governmental guidelines—often leaves them overwhelmed and misled. 

Is it about cutting calories, carbs, or fats? 

The advice varies, but the underlying theme remains: eat less, exercise more. 

The Energy Balance Model posits that weight loss is simply a matter of burning more calories than you consume.

 But is this really the whole truth?

Hero Conquer Cravings

It was a fallacy

Our hero soon learns that even though the Energy Balance (calories in/calories out) model was enticingly simple, it was a fallacy. She learns that the reality of weight loss is starkly different. Clinical studies and revelations, like those detailed in "Food Fix," unveiled the deception.

The science of weight and metabolism is not as simple as adding and subtracting calories!

While calories do matter, they are not the sole factor. The type and quality of calories profoundly impact our metabolism. Food isn't just fuel; it's information that affects our hormones, immune function, brain chemistry, gene expression, and microbiome. 

Many blame the simplistic calorie/energy balance model for causing the obesity epidemic that we are currently in.

The food industry embraced this flawed model because it absolved them of responsibility. Companies could produce calorie-dense junk food, reassuring themselves that quantity, not quality, was all that mattered. But the truth could not be buried forever.

Our hero faced many trials before she arrived at the truth.

She learned that ultra-processed foods, comprising about 70% of grocery store shelves, are laden with refined sugars and grains, perpetuating the cycle of high glucose. 

She learned that labels lie and find a way to sneak in the sugars causing her metabolic dysfunction even though the label said otherwise. Oh, the Lies!!

A mentor appears in every hero’s journey, offering wisdom and guidance. 

Here, the mentor is the Authentic Whole Health approach—a functional path that doesn’t just aim for weight loss but strives to heal from within. 

Our hero’s mentor, Coach Tom, teaches her to understand her body. He urges her to learn about metabolism and health by gathering personal data and personalized insights.

Working together, they embraced fasting cautiously at first, recognizing that it could be a stressor if not done correctly. 

Coach Tom taught her to listen to her body to discover her metabolism shift point and to listen even more, noting when fasting made her jittery and when it made her feel incredible.

She learned that when done correctly, delaying food gratification, aka fasting, creates space for her hormones to balance and reverse her metabolic dysfunction. She agreed to abandon the calories-energy balance model forever and adopt this new powerful method: Epigenetic Hormone Alignment known to some as the Carbohydrate-Insulin model.

Her journey now centered around mastering this new technique to defeat metabolic dysfunction once and for all.  She practiced this new technique daily. But her journey also brought new challenges.

How can I align my hormones without prescriptions?

Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone decrease as we get older. However, your sex hormones declining aren't causing weight gain.
